Getting back into the swing of things with their new single, “Wink“.

In 2013, Julian Casablancas, best known as the front man for The Strokes, formed an experimental rock group comprised of creative musicians who had a knack for heavy, avant garde music. JC and The Voidz released their debut album, Tyranny in 2014. Each song on the album is completely different from the last.
The first single released from the album, “Human Sadness“, is an epic 11-minute song that will take you on a dynamic musical journey. In many of the songs from Tyranny, Casablancas will distort his voice to the point where you can not understand the words, purposefully done to blend in with music as if it his voice were another instrument. Don’t worry you can look the lyrics up online, which are surprisingly poetic and at times a bit confusing.
The Tyranny album was full of heavy guitar riffs that at times could be overwhelmingly intense, blurring the lines between music and chaos. Their live performances proved to be even more chaotic than the album, giving them greater expressions of anger, desperation and sadness.
After three years, Julian Casablancas and the Voidz have debuted their latest song, “Wink”, on Brazillian talkshow, The Noite com Danilo Gentilo. The band is currently on tour in South America and have reportedly been working on their second album. “Wink“ stays true to the Voidz emphasis on instrumental work and the ambiguity of Casablancas‘ lyrics, however it seems much more upbeat than the Tyranny album.
